Update (and some tiny movie reviews)

Well, I have been spectacularly behind in updating this, but in my defence, or possibly my defense because this is one word I absolutely cannot spell, I have been busy in a very exciting way. I launched my book at Readings, which was one of those memories I’ve folded deep into my heart to be brought out when I need a big boost of happy. I’ve recorded a podcast with the lovely ladies at Middle Grade Mavens. I went to the Readings Doncaster Middle Fiction Book Club and got to talk to a bunch of kids about my book and be completely blindsided by their questions. I did a talk at the Little Bookroom/Yarra Libraries Kids Book Fest. I’ve got another podcast in the works, and I’m going down to Sorrento for Antipodes’ book club next week. AND I just finished the first draft of my next book! It has been A TIME, let me tell you, but also it’s also an absolute thrill, and I feel like the luckiest person in the world at the moment.

Hopefully now that I’m on the other end of this, I’ll be able to read some more books again, and get back to reviewing! (And in brief Holiday Movie Review News: Dora and the Lost City had a lot of plot holes and not enough excitement, though Dora herself was lovely and the song about pooping is pretty funny; Angry Birds 2 was fine and, just like the first movie, the best joke was one about pee; Abominable was lovely, beautiful to look at, made me cry and was my hands-down favourite of the spring school holidays movie bunch.)
